Artist's Statement
In 2016 I lost my husband to leukemia. His death changed the course of the fundamental questions I had been exploring through painting.
In 2017 I started working on a series originating from cellular and mathematical data, transforming it into a visual representation of disease and the emotions it evokes; the monster within.
During my research I was struck by the beauty of the cellular world. The idea that our physical demise is somehow alluring challenges the perception of illness. Creating an environment that radiates such beauty,amidst destruction, is a provocative idea.
An imbalance of thought, body and soul.This is the question that moves through my work, how do we transcend the end of life and find consistency with an existence beyond our own.
