Artist's Statement
This painting was started about a week into the shelter in place, when reality had started to hit. We were in our apartment still trying to figure out a good work at home situation for my wife. Our two cats, on the other hand, seemed perfectly at home with the new situation. The kind of reveled in having both of us around a lot more. The title references a line from the ridiculous character "Bane" in the final Nolan Batman film. It felt extra fitting because he wears a respiratory mask that keeps him alive, something that was new at the time (and which I didn't realize would become such a flashpoint in this country in the weeks and months to come).
