Below the Surface
28 x 73 x 4
One in a series of pieces inspired by my parents. My mother, through her daily ritual of hanging wash on the clothesline. My father, through his skills in working with concrete. Materials and technique blended to create layered imagery of life. I titled the piece based on the many facets of their lives. The ups, the downs, the laughter, the tears, the good times and the bad. In one’s life there are many unique and complex truths formed by past and present experiences which make us who we are today. Tomorrow’s truthful survival, contentment and understanding requires the constant search of that which lies beneath the surface.
