Artist's Statement
“Sunken City” was the first piece I created in my aquatic series. It is richly textured and highly tactile with many layers of paper, ink, and paint that forms a curiously welcoming world full of submerged imagery. The bold yet subtle colors blend together to create a sense of cohesion in the piece. You will find within its depths various hidden treasures, dilapidated dwellings, odd creatures and unusual remnants of long forgotten artifacts. “Sunken City” reminds me of my love for the ocean and portrays the often unrecognized beauty that happens as nature slowly overtakes civilization.
