Artist's Statement
The male figure sits in the back row of the MUNI bus alone, hoping to be ignored, despite him wearing his shame and schizophrenic thoughts as a giant headdress like a peacock in full stride. I draw large scale, multiple self-portraits to express what I bottle up inside for fear of losing the little that I have.
My brain was riddled with aural and visual hallucinations, being tugged at and pushed and pulled by invisible frenemies. All of this is manifested visually into a headdress of more than a hundred mini-me’s running through the glass tubes attached to my ears while three childlike demons wreak destruction on the delicate structure.
