Artist's Statement
I find inspiration in my life and art in the city I call home, San Francisco. Hotel Utah is an iconic building here in San Francisco. You can see it from many different vantage points, walking down 4th street or coming over the bay bridge. I have always been intrigued by its beauty and history. The Hotel Utah is the second oldest bar in San Francisco, which is part of the SOMA/China Basin area. I depicted it surrounded by water to signify its being alone in the SOMA/China Basin area; still standing while everything else around it continues to evolve.
You can see the spirits of the past still lingering with in the building enjoying the view.
I hope everyone enjoys this painting and is able to find something new each time they see it.
