Artist's Statement
On that thin edge where Pacific waves carve into the towering Santa Lucia Range, we glimpse an instant in lives of the once rare northern elephant seal. Here we zoom in on the universality of simple interpersonal moments and celebrate the uniqueness that is each individual. Though non-human, with lifestyles unimaginably different than ours, we still connect and relate. In "The Sirens", we also celebrate the fecundity and resilience of life, and hold up for appreciation one of California’s staggeringly beautiful and awe-inspiring natural treasure.
