Artist's Statement
I am a CAN ARTIST -
I paint imaginary champagne cans.
This is my newest painting in the FIRST CRUSH series.
I call my style RETRO POP and I like to reverse the POP ART
concept by here taking luxury objects and pulling them down
to an every day level...
Usually my paintings are installed directly on the wall with the
4 spacers. That way you see the wall behind it through the Lucite.
The de Young museum requested to have my painting “backed”
with a wooden base for this specific exhibit.
The art collector of this work will have a choice of installing it
the way it is displayed here OR to remove the grey wooden backing.
