Artist's Statement
My fascination with the lawn chair, other than its linear aesthetic and dynamic shadows, comes from its innate ability to exist in both trashy and elegant ways. It's both mundane and extraordinary at the same time. The lawn chair's minimal functionality and reliable use, paired with an eclectic mix of line patterns and colorways, has turned the product into a timeless icon of americana.
What separates this piece from my other, more traditional lawn chairs is that it was done in a sepia-toned beach theme - an experiment to see if the essence of the beautifully average chair would still come through outside of the traditional lawn environment.
