Artist's Statement
Before this painting was finished and had a name, I went to sleep thinking about how to move it forward. Then I woke up suddenly before dawn with a strong sense of needing to use the color purple. I hopped out of bed (I never hop out of bed), went straight to the studio, found the tube of purple and finished the painting. And I named the painting Purple.
