Artist's Statement
Robert Perkins
b. 1965
San Francisco based artist

Best thought of as a snake chasing its own tail.
Circular gestures of botanical and figurative motion, inner twined with layers of strait edged
lines and geometric shapes, this lends to building a landscape for these gestures.
Within this dance are pinpoints of tension, where the circular and hard line intersect.
Color play adds to the tension and volume of the shapes. A push and pull of foreground
perception.

“keep pushing paint” – Sam Tchakalain

“I was fortunate to work as an artist assistant and printmaker with some prestigious art houses of California. Working firsthand and side by side of the great contemporaries enhanced my drive and respect for painting; Always learning, but trusting in my abilities and style” -RP
