Artist's Statement
My work is inspired by nature, and the relationships that occur between objects in space. Nothing is absolutely fixed—there’s energy in everything: the objects, the tension between them, the air they share. There’s a fluidity and a push-pull that is ever present.
In both my DeYoung Open paintings, I use rocks, sand and water to explore those relationships.
My studio is at the Sausalito waterfront, so they are a part of a natural scene that serves as my muse.
