Artist's Statement
This piece was a “breaking out” for me from my more traditional, realistic work. It was the first piece in a new series of spontaneous, subjective work with no other reference than my own inner sense of excitement. This work is quick, fun and energetic. The only impetus in the painting process was that it be figurative and dynamic. I don’t ascribe a meaning or concept at the start. I allow the piece to take shape and the form to develop from what is happening on the canvas.
