Artist's Statement
Feeling the need to concentrate on color, shape and texture, and not as much on line inspired this painting. I draw a lot in pen and ink, and this approach felt very freeing. I was interested in the colors and how they related to each other. The layers gave some tissue paper like texture, which added another element, and elegance to the piece. In the final composition, some of the shapes appear as various life forms, and that is why I call it “Into the Wild.”
