Artist's Statement
“Spiked Curve” is a combination of my background in Sogetsu ikebana and assemblage art. Both allow me to explore interesting and exciting designs using unconventional and found items. During the COVID19 crisis, for months we heard about “spikes” and “flattening the curve” on a daily basis. I wanted to create an abstract representation of those phrases. The sharp points of the screws and zip ties counterbalance the asymmetrical curve of the sculpture.
