My work is about feeling, rather than ideology or narrative. It explores subliminal emotions created by the environments that surround us. I use wax, watercolor, and Mulberry paper to create a layered surface that suggests both solidity and translucency. Fog and Faultline juxtaposes two very different phenomena: although they occur on vastly different time scales, weather and tectonic activity have together shaped the California coastal landscape and the City of San Francisco. They act as creative as well as destructive forces, and Fog and Faultline hints at the dissolution of forms into weather or into the earth; evoking both chert rock and urban forms discolored by fog and dislocated by fault lines.
