Artist's Statement
My best friend inspired me to create a work that celebrates Erykah Badu in vivid colors. There is a regal quality about her and she is reminiscent of a queen. I wanted to create a collection of confident and empowered women who have shared their unique perspectives to the world in a powerful and meaningful way. This is part of a series of paintings to honor women of color in color and uplift them in celebration.
