Artist's Statement
I am drawn to materials with history - rusty, layered, worn by the elements. And to make artworks that suggest anatomy - the skeletal elements of bone and tendon, the maritime curves of rib and thorax. I work with what rises up without words to pin it down. For this piece I was inspired by metamorphosis, by gestures of transformation, and by what gets left behind (evidence and artifact) when one thing becomes another.
