Artist's Statement
Having studied both art and architecture, my thoughts on architecture have influenced my art, in what I call ArchiSculpture, not just in volumetric considerations but in the poetics of the architectural element and how we use them. Partly influenced by the writing of Gaston Bachelard in The Poetics of Space, I have departed from his thoughts to visually explore the meanings we attach to architectural elements and a redefined relationship with them, using them not only as forms in space but as metaphors for a deeper study of human interior and psychological space.

This sculpture, Corbeau, perches like a bird. Its bridge arches through the body to a lookout. The name, French for crow, references its avian qualities (lightness and form) while paying homage to my deep appreciation of the architect, le Corbusier (Corbu), and his chapel at Ronchamp, France.
