Artist's Statement
In my practice, I will start by putting paint on the surface in a very intuitive way. Usually in the form of color blocks, writings and overlapping shapes. The paint might drip, the colors blend. You could call it a form of creative chaos, the magma of my consciousness. As I keep going, I try to draw out the essence of the image. Then, I impose a certain formality in a way that brings some calm, harmony and beauty to the image. We are all living on the edge these days. I suppose my need to create order is a response to that .In " Mint tea" , the shapes of the vessels and their colorful content conjure a memory, the quiet ritual of tea. Others may experience the painting as a pure abstraction, with classic shapes that resonate with the age-old human activity of storage, sustenance and survival. These are the shapes that I am often drawn to in my work.
