Artist's Statement
As a child I remember being fascinated by the beauty of nature. I spent a lot of time in the back seat of my parents’ car staring out the window in awe of the light and colors and textures I saw. I wanted to paint the passing scenes so I could hold on to those images and enjoy them for as long as I liked. Only how to do that? I thought it would take forever to learn how to paint well enough to capture the beauty I saw! Those early childhood trips were the catalyst for a lifelong passion for painting. Now, all these years later, I see that I can, in fact, paint well enough so that other people can also enjoy what I had seen. Lagoon is a view of our beautiful coastline in the Bay Area that I just had to paint.
