Living on the coast of Northern California, the ocean’s ever-changing surface is a daily observation. The ocean’s response to weather and light keep it a dynamic source of visual information that I simplify into graphic content for my paintings. Glints of light on the ocean’s surface are in perpetual motion as movement of the water changes the angles and shapes of the sunlight’s reflections. The color of the water changes moment to moment too as it is a mirror reflection of the sky. “Water Glints” is my interpretation of the ocean’s surface, stopped-motion, for a single moment on a single day.
