Artist's Statement
Isolation in a studio allows for an ample flow of creative thought. That is, until the ineludible appearance of the studio fly; darting about and commanding attention every moment it landed at rest and seemingly to study me. It was persistent, consistent, and impossible to ignore. During those moments of rest I studied the way the light glistened from the brilliant iridescence of it’s thorax. Thus, I found the largest canvas I had in my possession and rendered the likeness of this ordinary turned extraordinary creature in the glorified and larger than life state depicted in this series.
