Artist's Statement
I was inspired to paint my abstract landscape of a lake in Connemara, Ireland as a response to 2020 and the myriad of challenges the year brought my way. One of the most painful parts of the pandemic has been my inability to travel there and see the people I love. The title of my painting “Noon’s purple glow“ is taken from the poem by William Butler Yeats called “The Lake Isle of Innisfree “. The theme of this poem is about escaping to a sanctuary you have created for yourself. I hope that my painting evokes the feeling of getting lost in your surrounding in a peaceful way .

"...
And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight’s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet’s wings.
..."
