“2 Summers Ago” by Kathryn Arnold

This painting uses a layering process of optical translucent and opaque layers, jewel-like colors, creating woven strands of memories. With abstraction, I perceive a nostalgic looking at the past. The painting captures past and present simultaneously, producing nostalgic memories and perceptions of places, people, times gone by while creating it in the present. The title “2 Summers Ago” portrays how two summers ago the world was a very different place. Who would have guessed that two years later it would have become so disparate?
