Artist's Statement
As an artist working in printmaking, mixed media and textiles, I explore how the language of defining women is constructed over time, forms in which feminine lineage manifest and how stories of women are told. I found removing the women from the photo speaks to the idea of women’s voices lost or unheard and made visual a world without women – their shadows on the wall behind the piece the remaining evidence of their existence. My work continues to evolve, exploring images through textile, paper and ink which evoke memory, examine layers of women’s stories, and strive to create a visual cloth as a form of feminine lineage.
