Artist's Statement
I cannot seem to make art without being influenced by our shared concerns for the environment and our deteriorating democratic values. We seem to continue to be on our path towards the folly of our own self-destruction. With my art I address these concerns indirectly in order to engage viewers to find their own meanings in my paintings. The title “Eye Mind” is a play on words: I (myself) and Eye (to see) and Mind referring either to the brain or being annoyed. Out of this confusion can we still use our privileged intellect yet to save ourselves?
