Artist's Statement
My work begins with a half inch grid and then is filled in ritualistically, one at a time. Feeling the enormity of the quiet and stillness after the shutdown due to Covid-19, I began a new pencil drawing, a “pencil tapestry” as I refer to them, using soft and muted colors. As time progressed the momentary bliss of a world made less noisy also made the distance between myself and those I love greater. “Together Apart 2020” is my attempt to mirror those feelings.
