My teacher, Chester Arnold, would often say,” Find something you are drawn to, then paint it 100 times”.

When my mother passed away at age 97 in 2017, I went to her house to assist in clearing her belongings. I came upon four packed moving boxes, containing teacups and saucers. A teacup used to be the traditional gift when a young woman became engaged. This collection consisted of gifts to my great-grandmother. grandmother, mother, aunt, sister and me. Assuming no one wanted them, they were packed for the thrift shop. Painting them came to my mind, so I took them home.

I began my “Generations” series in 2018. The first paintings were quite representational. However, they have taken me on a wonderful journey into abstracting shapes, changing sizes, and a variety of color palettes and backgrounds. I believe I am on #20 with no end in sight.
