Artist's Statement
Icarus is a short film. This film was inspired by and produced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
I, Pietro Pinto, am a film director, Angelo Greco is the principal dancer of the SF Ballet, and Daniel Miramontes is a photographer.
After a month of lockdown and quarantine in San Francisco, I decided that we should capture this unique time on film. I approached Angelo about sharing his story.
Angelo Greco was forced to stop performing at the San Francisco Ballet theater when the virus struck America and he was required to shelter in place. Yet in his dreams, he is free to dance in the lonely and empty streets of San Francisco. Despite these brief moments of freedom, and just as in the Greek myth of Icarus, his dream will not last.
The Piece of Art ICARUS SF DOWNTOWN is a still from Icarus Short Film, which will have its USA premiere at the San Francisco Dance Film Festival 2020. (more infos at http://pietropintofilms.com)
