Nunca sere nada (I’ll never be nothing) is part of a series of paintings, based on the concept of “nothingness”. As I looked at myself in the mirror and noticed how much my physical aspect has changed and will continue to change, I realized that I can never return to how I was because I am constantly changing. Throughout the process of changing, I became identified with a certain external image of myself, which is no longer there and it will disappear, just like all other forms of life, will eventually cease to exist on earth. These observations made me realize that I have always asserted my existence, but I have never postulated my non-existence. Which is why, I painted a portrait of me as nothing.
