Artist's Statement
I have known, and sadly lost, so many people in my life. Perhaps for others, faces from the past simply slip out of mind, as flowing streams of downcast eyes or rivers of glowing smiles. But for me, those expressions are frozen, the faces still a part of me. Every one a jewel, with facets, hues and smooth lines - my treasures. All around me, I see them hidden, in the swirls of linoleum or the figured grain of wood panel. Looking deeply, faces return, our eyes meeting once more as images emerge from scattered forms. I grab a brush, pour the rich pigments and abandon myself, searching for your eyes and lips, so we can see and speak to each other again.
