Artist's Statement
The painting, “Upward” was inspired by a view from Russian Hill in San Francisco. Initially, my focus went to the street and buildings–the man made environment, then my gaze continued to move upward and beyond to respect the immensity of this planet and its atmosphere, seeing and appreciating the bigger picture of this place we call home.
