Through this work, I attempt to examine the theme of isolation and the phenomenon of the human form inspired by the figurative expressionist artist Egon Schiele. What began as a personal journey in discovering the landscape of San Francisco has translated into an image of contrasting forms of a predictable and constant chair with the delicate and wavering human condition. This piece invites the viewer to challenge their place in the world when social interaction is all but non-existent.

Escaping the Fall of Saigon, I spent my formative years as a refugee in the Philippines. Raised and educated in Canada, avid world traveller, and now a resident of San Francisco, I find the majority of my time in the kitchen, terrace garden, and in front of my laptop teaching high school math virtually.
