Artist's Statement
When I made Land’s End, I was responding to the beauty of the San Francisco coastline, where I grew up. There is a moment when you walk through tree lined paths, where the view just opens up, and the vastness of the Pacific Ocean is before you. The moon casting light, creates reflections dancing with waves and trees. The feeling of this moment is what I wrapped up in this canvas, a game of translation, as though shapes that emerge in fading light become strokes of color and shadow, reverently a connection between land and the sea and waves is formed.
