Artist's Statement
We are living in an age of transition.
My current work consists of numerous fragments of newsprint from the few remaining local print publications. In part, these fragments represent a granularization of text/data/images that define current forms of media. These fragments are re-contextualized and reassembled to explore various forms and meanings that may result from this increased granularity (sediment/stories, volumes, identity, etc.)
Also inherent to the work are explorations of the notion of sustainability. For example, transformations of the newsprint focus on the essence of the material, and how it may be elevated through the process of its reuse.
A Storey of Sky presents the tone of a current and familiar condition, with a moment or reveal that represents a truth, a hope or just a memory.
