Artist's Statement
My work is about the fluidity of perception. As memories,
ideas and beliefs morph over time they become mere shadows of any
original landscape. To communicate this I construct liminal spaces by
collaging architecture and other interior imagery, with botanicals,
landscapes and other exterior elements on Photoshop. I then layer
patterns, play with the color and mood, and rearrange my composition
until the image feels like a fractured yet dreamlike space. I then
painstakingly record this image in oil paint. My goal is for the
painting to feel neither here nor there, reminding the viewer of the
ephemerality of memory and truth.
