Artist's Statement
Art begets art. Two years ago I sat down and watched Oprah Winfrey’s acceptance speech for the Cecile B DeMille Award at the 2018 Golden Globes. Oprah used her platform to confront the white patriarchy during the height of the “Me Too” movement. It was the kind speech that will be remembered as a defining moment in history. It was engaging, inspiring and incredibly bold. Oprah ended her speech to a standing ovation with the words “Their time is up!” I was inspired by those words to create a visual representation of her powerful sentiment.
