Artist's Statement
My inspiration for “Sunset” came out of an experience I had while watching the sunset over a forested mountain range.
As the trees pressed against the mountains, they began to merge with the horizon line and sky. The individual colors all formed together as one image.
Through my artwork, I am trying to show this sense of connection I see in nature and my own connection I feel with the natural world. For me, the physical reality
of nature symbolically shows the spiritual in life. By blending the colors together and losing most of the forms, I seek to create an image of unity and wholeness.
While I paint these images of forms merging, I experience a transformation of reconnecting with nature. I then awaken to my own underlying spirit and see that I am a part of this oneness.
