Artist's Statement
I make abstract compositions — layered monochromes, undulating horizons and destabilized grids — using semi-transparent adhesive tape as a painting medium.
Through geometric abstraction and the interaction of color, I explore phenomena of perception, joy and meditative experience. My goal is to create contemplative visual spaces that are a resource for inner life and being in the world.
Conceptually, ideas of multiplicity and a joyous pluralism are embedded in the chromatic play of difference and repetition in my work generally, and in this piece, Ojalá, in particular.
