Artist's Statement
“First Strike” is part of a faux vintage neon sign series I started in 2018. The signs reimagine a post WWII American society led by an incurious, xenophobic and vengeful President, as opposed to the alliance builders that brought us the Marshall Plan, Nato and the United Nations.
The pieces are designed and built new, from wood, spackle, paint. Aluminum armature wire and vinyl tubing are used for the “neon”. They are then aged to look 50-80 years old.
