Artist's Statement
After many years of creating floral designs and environments at my San Francisco store Floreal, I began the process of closing shop and shifting gears.
Ever the creator, my idle hands longed for something new. I have often regretted the ephemeral nature of working with fresh flowers, and as I began digging through my extensive collection of dried flowers and foliage, I found inspiration. My mind flooded with memories of long walks and conversations with my mother in the fields and woods of Provence, bringing forth vivid images of beautiful gardens, filled with colorful birds, insects and the like.
Building on those memories, I began what I think of as my Mother’s Imaginary Gardens.
