Artist's Statement
I am a Latina doctor and artist working in Contra Costa County during the COVID-19 pandemic. I was inspired to paint this portrait of an exhausted and grief-stricken nurse from the Italian surge that occurred earlier this year as an homage to my colleagues worldwide.
