Artist's Statement
I believe that each decision we make in the moment can lead to a different result in the future.
I use unique individual wood pieces to create a whole memory in collage. This process is like putting a puzzle together. I experiment with the placement of the pieces to create the final result.
This is my memory of Dean. He was the love of my life, and was a victim of gun violence. He was robbed in his home and lost his life in 2017. He was a kind, responsible, generous person, who had a good and kind heart.
He was a young man who could have achieved so many things in his life.
I created this piece to honor and celebrate his life; to remember the best moments we had together and remind myself to strive to make the right decision in each moment.
