Artist's Statement
My satirical, imitation museum artifacts examine societal values related to gender and beauty roles. Created from recycled marble found at the San Francisco dump, this “Patria Potestas Perpetua” plaque was supposedly discovered in an abandoned men’s club, c. 2020. Its assertion of male superiority (translated from Latin to “Unending Patriarchy”) was a key mantra of the “manosphere” in the early third millennium, until the rise of women in national politics forced patriarchal men’s clubs to disband in shame.
