Artist's Statement
In my early years as a painter I rejected the Abstract Expressionism endorsed by my Pratt Institute instructors.
I wanted to convey the interplay of real objects in light and space. Still life painting has been the major pursuit of my career.
I am passionate about the sensuous nature of objects on a level surface. Melding hyper-realism which elements of abstraction, I convey the magical transparencies of light, on and through the glass, and the reflections on the glass table.
Two of the diverse painters I have been influenced by are Giorgio Morandi & Claudio Bravo.
