Artist's Statement
This Gospel Singer's spirit, beauty, and exquisite skin tones were what inspired my drawing, and while seeking to capture her likeness I also sought her essence: an essence within and beyond the physical image.
Aside from the sheer pleasure of the craft itself what is always particularly inspiring is when I see my subjects come to life on the canvas or in a drawing.
