Artist's Statement
I’m a printmaker and an art quilter. I print on quilts and sometimes stitch through prints. I’m intrigued by how various substrates grab ink and will print on anything I find just to see what happens. “Silver Linings” is a product of one of those experiments. It’s a monotype on Heavy Pellon interfacing (the material that lines garments and makes coat collars stiff.) In a very real sense, this piece is a lining – embellished with hand painted silver applique, hand and machine stitching. These days, we are all looking for/hoping for a silver lining somewhere in all the upset and upheaval we are experiencing. My message: Don’t wait too long for that silver lining. Make your own.
