Artist's Statement
This piece was created for an exhibit of the Northern California Society of Botanical Artist at the UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens. The theme of the show was rare and endangered plants. I found this tree growing at Western Hills Garden in Occidental. I bought a small seedling there and worked from that. The Snakebark Maple is endangered in its native habitat because of habitat destruction.
