Untitled (Four Blocks) 2020
Untitled (Four Blocks) 2020 is inspired by Malevich’s Four Squares 1917, one of the most radical non-objective paintings of the 20th century.
My painting, Untitled (Four Blocks) 2020 is concerned with painting’s inherent qualities of concept and touch, materiality and illusion, flatness and implicit volume, stasis and energy, size and scale, specific objectivity and infinite space.
Four Blocks is one of a series of White and Black paintings which I began in 2018 as a reflection on the complexities yet ultimate reality of Truth. I chose to paint in white and black to express the extremity of the moment and the authority of painting.
Four Blocks is made to induce the viewer into a state of clear aesthetic perception. In the relationship of pure forms we can see the Universe.
